Starting XBMC with a MCE remote?
#1
Hi, is there a way to remap the start button on a MCE remote so that when I press it it starts XBMC instead of MCE? Also in last.fm in XBMC is there any way to map a few of the keys, so that they can do love, ban, hate using single key presses? If so how do I do this?

Install the MCE Remote addon and remap any of your keys to whatever keyboard shortcut works for last.fm

You can do the same for the MCE button and run EventGhost to only capture that keyboard press and run a program when it does.... The program being xbmc.exe of course. In EventGhost, you need to install the keyboard plugin to be able to capture that key.

If your remote uses the eHome drive (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows for how to tell) then the green button can be mapped to any keystroke you want. I have mine mapped to ctrl-shift-W, and I have this set as the shortcut key for the XBMC Start menu icon.

If your remote doesn't use the eHome driver the green button is probably generating the keypress win-alt-enter. There isn't any way to trap this keypress because Windows handles it before anything else gets a look in. That's why you need to use the technique described on the inchoatethoughts.com site.
