Crystal HD Card for ATV1
#1
Does anyone know if this will work for the Apple TV 1st generation?:

Any help will be great!! I'm getting ready to buy a ATV1 on Craigslist for $50 for the bedroom, and I've read that I need to install the "Crystal HD card" in order to get full HD. Just not sure if the brand or model number matters. Huh

Thanks!!

Matt

there's a new wiki post on this but in short get the BCM70015 for smooth results when skipping etc.
Addons I wrote &/or maintain:
OzWeather (Australian BOM weather) | Check Previous Episode | Playback Resumer | Unpause Jumpback | XSqueezeDisplay | (Legacy - XSqueeze & XZen)
Sorry, no help w/out a *full debug log*.

Ok. I just read the wiki, and it looks like the BCM970012 will do everything that the newer 970015 will do, with the exception of Flash HD, and Divx/Xvid. Since all my content is 720p h.264, which will be displayed on a 720p 32" TV, I will save the $26, go with the $19 Crystal HD card, along with the $50 ATV1, and give the Linux install a try.

Thanks for the heads up on the wiki!! Big Grin

The BCM970012 will work fine but if you need to seek and then play it will stutter, sometimes continuously until you stop the video and then restart it.

Deifnitely get the 15 if you can. When you've got it use Crystalbuntu and it will work splendidly
