I am looking at building a new XBMC box and have a question for you SSD users out there.....
Spending the extra money on a SSD is well worth it especially when you are scrolling through your collections but are you only going to really see this speed gain when you let XBMC gather your backgrounds etc.

I prefer to gather my own Metadata with Ember so all of those files reside on my Unraid Server with my movies etc. so would i still have some lag because the files have to come from a different machine

My initial thoughts would be yes even on a gigabit network but I wanted to ask those of you already using this

XBMC only reads the Metadata and saves it to a db so the Ember files are only needed when you scan for the first time.
