[AppleTV2] Password protected archive files not playable - But working on WIN XBMC!

Hi there!

I´m not sure if this is a bug or this feature is just not supported by the atv2 version of xbmc. I think & hope its a bug Smile

I try to play password protected rar files linked from .strm files.
Sample below for "300-pass.strm". The "test" in the beginning is the Pass.

Code:
.Strm Content
rar://test@http%3a%2f%2fmobile%2ftest%2f300%2dpass%2erar/300.mp4

Unescaped it looks like
rar://test@http://mobile/test/300-pass.rar/300.mp4

This feature is working fine with rar files without passwort on atv2.
But the passwort feature is support by XBMC on Win and working very fine, not on atv2 version.

I tried Eden-Beta2 & Eden-Beta3. The Debug LogFile is below.

Code:
Debug LogFile ATV2:
http://pastebin.com/k5seabRD

Debug LogFile Win7:
http://pastebin.com/0bcUX8tq

Is there any chance to fix/support that on atv2 to? Or any way to fix this myself? PLEASE!!!!

Thanks!

Every time you play a video in a rar file, somebody kills a kitten.

Think of the kittens.

Honestly, though, no idea. Maybe someone else knows. I just had to say that little bit (it's in my contract to hate rar files).

Hmm someone else from the developer team?!

In theory.... when it worked fine on Win Xbmc it also should work on Atv2, right?
So this seems to be a bug? Should i submit these Bug in the ticket System?

Atv & WinXbmc, are they using different UnRar Routines in SourceCode?

I´m a little bit confused, the normal Rar without Password is playing well on Atv2.
Maybe only the Password Parameter is not well communicated to the unrar process?!

I really really would love this option on atv!!!

I am really not getting this playback-from-password-protected-or-even-compressed-rars thingy. (Not to start a discussion or something but I really just don't get it...)

Well just to explain my case. I try to backup my whole personal ripped mediathek to the cloud. To prevent any copyright issues or other problems i will protect these files with passwords.

I think i don´t need to explain the pros of the cloud storage. I for my self dont like to store all this stuff local. In my eyes its much expensiver, local raid, electricity costs, updating costs for new space... and so on.
There are alot cloud services out there offering unlimited space for low prices. Gives me the ability to access my mediathek from any place on earth.

//edit: samples for cloud storage: livedrive, bitcasa, yousendit, rapidshare....
