I recently installed XBMC on my other HTPC so thought I might as well use the MySQL database option...

I installed and configured MySQL but it wasn't working correctly so I uninstalled and reinstalled again to start from scratch...

when running the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard, the program stops responding when trying to start the MySQL service

I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled in a different directory, removed all instances of 'mysql' in the registry but it will not start no matter what I do!!!

The event viewer just says theres an error starting it so is of absolutely no help!

Has anyone else had this?

I've resolved this by removing the left over MySQL directory in the Program Data folder...totally useless uninstall process..there were dozens of orphaned registry entries as well!!
