Ok installed xbmc on jail broken atv2. Have shared folder on my laptop (. Vista business). When I go through xbmc ,video ,add video, browse, home folder, then my laptop,.....then can't find anything

Don't go to "home folder". Go to browse -> "Windows network (SMB)" (scroll down to see it)

Thanks for the quick reply,,,I've tried going to windows network smb then it's workgroup then mylaptop,,,,
Then it asks for lock settings password?

Someone take pity on me and help me out here before I buy a rifle 
I consider myself quite good with this sort of stuff,,,but this is bursting my ass big time,,,,all I want to do is get ice films on my apple tv 2 and play films on xbmc via my laptop...been trying everything xbmc finds my laptop but connection test fails ( no such directory) ? And in xbmc when I go to smb windows it finds my laptop then asks for lock settings password,, regardless of what ever I put in or don't put in ,,,nothing happens I can't find and laptop files anywhere

well, you should know best what User + Password you have setup on your Windows Laptop.
There surely are plenty of guides out there how to setup Windows Network Shares, there's nothing special about xbmc.
