I have some rips that lock up my Xbmc setup like clockwork. First sound, then the image freezes, and Xbmc jumps to 100% CPU usage. I can still SSH just fine and poke around like nothing's happened. This is what xbmc's log shows while it locks up:

you could file an issue in fernetmentas github, as you are running the xvba branch.

Ok. The strange thing is, it uses the MPEG-4 decoder. So XvBA shouldn't be involved...

Going to build a clean Xbmc without any XvBA support later on, see how that behaves. I don't think it's a catalyst issue, since I can watch h.264 material just fine for hours on end.

Well, the symptoms might be identical, but quite probably your problem is different. These are AVIs with XviD video and MP3 audio.
