how do you turn of sounds in xbmc, ive looked everywhere in system but cant see it?

I assume you mean 'navigation sounds' - if so

System/Settings/Appearance/Skin and toggle 'Navigation Sounds' to off.

yes the navigation sounds and hopefully that will turn off the error sound as well the one you get when skipping to next album and xmbc cant find it, dosent sound so great coming through my hifi with the volume turned up,
