Win Library, path, what the heck?!

Hi All!

Following scenario:

1. SAN with 21TB of Raid-Z2 redundant storage
2. VM with 2TB of storage (tempo. storage of videos)

XBMC library scraped from SAN, but I want to watch some of the items from the VM, ie. from the library, but instead of XBMC going to the SAN for the file, it must go to the VM.

I read about pathsubstitution in advancesettings.xml - but don't know if this is the correct 'thing' to try, or not - seeing that it doesn't work...

Is there any way to basically 'point' xbmc for a said file in the library, to a different path? I want to play the file out of the library, in order to have full XBMC advantages (tags, time, date, synopsis of episode(s), etc)....

The path on SAN is:

SMB://username:password@jadepalace/media/series/

The path on the VM is:

SMB://usnername:password@u/XBMC/series/

Also tried mapping a network drive for the VM, but still it doesn't play - I can access the path through explorer without a problem.

Any/all help appreciated!

Check what the actual path is in xbmc's library (check path table). Use that in pathsubstitution.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

Hi jmarshall,

The path, as from the MySQL database is:

smb://username:password@JadePalace/media/series/Supernatural/

so THAT must be substituted to:

smb://username:password@Shifu/u/XBMC/series/Supernatural/

?

PS. I have tried the above - still no luck...
