MediaElch - MediaManager for Mac/Linux/Win (with music library scraping)
Hi,

So what you saying is that with ME you can't scrape the poster & the fanart for the set.

After scraping the movies, if you click on the Set icon on the left it looks like you can scrape a poster & fanart, but the scraper

button doesn't light up so you can't scrape anything. Even if you click on the poster or fanart it says no images found.

I'm confusedHuh

I'm not the developer, so can't speak for him - but 'sets' where probably added afterwards, and the UI isn't perfect for handling sets.
Kodi gets the artwork from one of the movies IN the set (probably why you can't do so in ME) - as there is no folder to save artwork to.
You can change the artwork using Kodi, but this is because it can choose art and put it into the database without having to store 'local' art side by side with your media.

Have play with just two movies (just choose two very small videos) - fake movies and define the same set for both movies, then see how Kodi handles it... it's very easy to delete it afterwards without needed to mess up your entire library etc.

Thanks for the reply. There is actually an option to set a folder for artwork for movie sets.

See settings->movies at the bottom you can set a folder for artwork. Am I missing something?

I think that's for a very different purpose, and where to store artwork for movies in general, not sets.
But I'm not at home at the moment so can't verify.

Good afternoon,

I started to use this yesterday, it seems just what I am looking for, I am however having a problem with certification>
Whatever setting I put in for the scraper it refuses to scrape UK certification. I have searched this thread and the only
issue people get is UK instead of US which is exactly the opposite to my issue! Laugh

Thanks

Ok, so I downloaded MediaElch bc my (video)db seems to have gone haywire. I started the program, made sure Kodi webserver is running on the right port, with proper credentials. I click on movies, then choose 'add to synch que' then choose sync. i'd expect it to load all my lib's movies but instead nothing happens. FWIW: I have Kodi on Ubuntu, and use MediaElch on Windows to manage the lib. What am I doing wrong here?

I just installed and started using MediaElch. Like it so far but have two questions. I'd like to keep my nfo's pretty clean in general and when I use MediaElch it takes down way more info than I need.

1) It seems to download the full cast & crew from the moviedb. Is there any way to limit this to maybe 4-5 actors, or ideally the top billed cast only (which the moviedb has separated), something like that? Several of my test movies have even downloaded uncredited cast members, which doesn't seem necessary. I know I can remove manually from the actors tab, but that would take a long time to do for every movie.

2) The nfo's are linking to a ton of images at themoviedb, they are all in the thumb tags. I'm downloading the relevant artwork to the folder (banner, clearart, disc, fanart, landscape, logo, poster). How can I toggle off all these linked images? When I view some of the links manually to see what they are, some are different posters (other than the main one downloaded to the folder), some are the movie poster in other languages, all things I don't need. I don't want all these links cluttering up the nfo. Everything I've tried toggling off hasn't worked, they are in each nfo I save after playing with the settings, including unchecking "thumb" in the scrape tab.

Thanks.

You need to add uk certification manually in mediaelch certification box as follows. Put uk plus semicolon followed by cert EG = uk:18 or uk:15 etc

Once entered they should be saved in certification drop down menu for quick acess for rest movies.

Hope that helps

@Filly I have encountered this same issue on a Windows share, and have discussed this with @Komet, and it is a long standing issue that doesn't work.

What I do, is when I add new stuff to my library using MediaElch, I simply tell Kodi to "Update Video Library" and if I am updating a Movie or TV Show (new artwork, or bio, etc), then in Kodi, I do a "Clean Video Library" first, and when it's finished, I perform a "Update Video Library".

One trick I found, was that you can automate "Clean and Update Video Library" tasks, so I have them do a "Clean" at 2am in the morning, and a "Update" at 4am in the morning. So every day, my Kodi data is nice and fresh.

Of course If I add a show that I want to watch right away, then I have to do a manual "Update" but that usually only takes a few minutes, so not bad.

1. You could try holding shift click on first actor to be deleted, scroll down to end of list click last actor so all highlighted blue. Then keep pressing the minus sign beside photo to all are deleted. Its a bit quicker than having to click each actor manually and deleting.

2. Do the extra thumbs and posters only show after adding the movies to your library? In that case make sure artwork downloader is not downloading extra images from the net when adding to library. Make sure the option use local files is selected in artwork downloader settings. Mediaelch should only save the chosen images you see on right hand side of movie.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply bo.

1) I can shift and select multiple actors but you still have to hit the - symbol for each removed actor, it doesn't remove them all at once. Either way I guess there isn't a setting for just "top billed cast" ... maybe i'll put in the feature request as I think that's much more useful.

2) The images don't download to the folder, it's just the nfo is full of links to the moviedb for all sorts of images I don't need. They are all in the nfo like this
PHP Code:
<fanart>
        <
thumb preview="http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/w780/56El17WVXXqyZCZvSC8Nyc8yPgx.jpg">http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/56El17WVXXqyZCZvSC8Nyc8yPgx.jpg</thumb>
</fanart

It will link 12-15 of these images per nfo, and it's wasted space (as I said I'm trying to achieve clean nfo files), I only need the one fanart.jpg it actually downloads to the folder, I don't understand why the rest of these are linked in the nfo at all. Nothing I've done will get rid of these short of manual deletion. It's also why I want the actors limited, the nfo is full of actor names and moviedb links to their pictures, only the top billed cast is needed in my opinion, the rest is a waste for me.

I haven't added anything to Kodi yet, I'm working with MediaElch and some test files before I integrate.

Those links are on my nfo files as well but they are not used by kodi, i think maybe they are there for reference or something not sure. Anyways you wont have problem if you select use local files in artwork downloader settings only the images mediaelch saves in your movie folder are used.

Also if you havent used this little program i recommend installing Texture cache maintenance utilty as it helps manage all the cached images on your system. For example if you want to change a fanart of poster of a movie. Once its cached you will have to remove the image in cache before it picks up the new one. Using this makes it a simple process.

It takes a little getting used too but invaluable once you know how it works

ME is not downloading artwork for movies for me anymore.
If I click on one of the artwork icons it doesnt give me any option to download anything.... but its doing something because I can't do anything again with the program unless I hit escape (which would normally close the art download box)

I tried to just delete the program and start over but I can't... How the F-bomb you completely delete this program?
I deleted the directory I have it in.... went to users in my C drive and deleted the kvibes folders I found...
Everytime I reload the program it still has all my settings... where the hell is storing this information? I'm frustrated beyond belief!!!

I am assuming you' re on Windows since you speak of a c drive. Since the introduction of Windows there is a great concept called registry. It stores many settings. Please investigate thoroughly before editing and do make a backup
