XBMC keeps crashing whilst playing MKV at approx 30 mins
#1
Hello,

I have the 4.4.4 firmware and running 110.0-RC2 compiled Mar 2012

I have been trying to watch 4gb mkv files and they all seem to be crashing at the same point.

Please find the xbmc.log from the link

Syslog from around the time of the crash

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

did you make sure to disable Apple update notifications?

1)install updatebgone from nittotv

2.) edit your /etc/hosts file manually to block apple servers

Those are some seriously high spec files you are playing there (12mb 1080p trueHD 5.1) I am surprised you don't get stuttering and buffering.
Looks like you have thumbnail extraction going too. It is best to turn that off.

Does the video bomb at the same point or is it a duration of play thing? Can you jump to a point before the crash and reproduce it?

First thing I would do is update from XBMC v11 RC1 to XBMC v11 final. Just use the wiki instructions or NitoTV.

Hi, thanks for you help so far but none seem to have helped.

I've upgraded my firmware to 5.0.2, jailbroken and installed NitoTV and XBMC to the latest version.

Installed updatebegone and disabled the thumbnail extraction.

The ATV still crashes after approx 30 mins play of that or any similar sized video. I'm watching the Dexter and it crashes around 30 mins into each episode. Once it's rebooted I can scan to that point and it lets me watch until the end so I don't think its a part of the video, more a timing issue.

That syslog you posted is cut - it doesn't show the time where the crash happend.

Ok, just recreated the crash.... it's happening around 43 mins into a 49 min video (not 30 mins as first thought)

Here is a link to the new Syslog. http://pastebin.com/nZikLjeX

and the xbmc.log http://pastebin.com/Pc1JwGXj

Again, thanks for you help all Smile

You crash because out of memory.

Please remove the "<cachemembuffersize>0</cachemembuffersize>" from your advancedsettings and try again.
