Well, I started using xbmc today, and everything is going fine except for playing videos.
Anytime I try to play a video file the audio and menu buttons work just fine but the video will not play. All I get is a black screen, not counting the menu buttons that are there. Whenever I tab out to the actual menus I see the video playing just fine in the background. Apparently, from what I've gathered in threads about this problem, there's something about DirectX not supporting the way XMBC renders videos or some such. I've followed the instructions in other posts that were similar to this problem but nothing so far has worked, like updating DirectX.
There's a lot of stuff I don't know about the fine details and such of things like this, so I thought I'd post on here and hope that some one with more know-how than I have could help me figure out what is wrong and, hopefully, fix it.
In case it helps, I'm using a Toshiba A665D Satellite, windows 7 home premium x64 with ATI.
