I've used the search feature but I'm still having issues in finding a way to download an add-on or a plugin that allows me to record TV when using my XBMC and finding one that allows me to get the syfi channel.

I installed MythBox but when I click on the "test settings" I get a message saying "Connect to mySQL failed: 2003: can't connect to mySQL" I have no clue how to fix it or if it even can be fixed. If it can't be fixed is there another recording plugin that I can use? I have a Mac OSX 10.6.8 version. I am also using the XBMC 11.0, Mythbox 1.1.0.

Are you trying to record from a TV tuner card or from an online stream? I don't think you can record from an online stream (at least not any of the video ones on the XBMC.org add-on repo).
