Why no built in support for remote controls

Hi not a complaint just a question as to why there is no built in support for remote controls, what is the approved method of controling xbmc then

XBMC has built-in support for remote controls. I have a USB/IR emitter hooked up to my machine, and I can use my harmony perfectly. Check your preferences (System/Input Devices)

XBMC has support for a wide range of remote controls:
  • Various IR remote controls, wireless keyboards and wireless mice
  • Various RF remote controls, wireless keyboards and wireless mice
  • Various BT remote controls, wireless keyboards and wireless mice
  • Various Android smartphones/tablets running various remote control apps
  • Various iPad/iPhone/iPod devices running various remote control apps
  • Various WiFi enabled devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets, ebook readers) running various web browsers

XBMC should support (out of the box) MCE Remotes and remotes that show up as a USB keyboard or HID device, IIRC.
