Has my SSD died?
#1
Hi Everyone

I'm using XBMCBuntu for a while now, and it's been working great, and I just tried to run a few commands on it and I'm getting errors such as:

ls: reading directory .: Input/output error

-bash: /usr/bin/uptime: Input/output error

I've done some googling and I ran dmesg, I have loads of the following output:

[447753.428388] glxinfo[31681]: segfault at fffffff8 ip b6aac6e5 sp bf9d9300 error 4 in libnvidia-glcore.so.280.13[b5ae1000+18a0000]

I could paste in the output from mount but basically is says /etc/mtab is not writable

Any ideas? Could it really be my SSD?

It doesn't look like good news, good luck however.

I see your other post here too http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2079889 about same thing, the link I pointed to has some troubleshooting, however it does look like drive is going, going, gone.

As uNi has already suggested it sounds like drive is kaputz or something very unfortunate happened to the filesystem.

I'd boot off another Ubuntu LiveCD and give 'gsmartcontrol' a whirl via its long test. That should hopefully narrow things down definitely for you.
If I helped out pls give me a +

A bunch of XBMC instances, big-ass screen in the basement + a 20TB FreeBSD, ZFS server.
