Hi all,

I'm currently running an Acer Revo R3700 that sits behind my TV as my XBMC machine. I've just bought a new SLR and I want to do some better video and photo editing than my laptop is capable of.

What I want to know is, can I replace my R3700 with an Apple TV like box for cheaper than building a new desktop machine for doing video editing.

Note: I know my Revo won't make a great photo/video machine, but budget constraints mean I need to choose which machine is most cost effective to upgrade, especially as I'm going to need a NAS as well now.

What kind of budget do you have? What size constraints do you have for behind the TV (assuming that's where you want it)?

I have an Acer Aspire Revo R3610 that was running WMC until I stumbled across XBMC. XBMC works quite well on it. I bought my GF a used one and it works really well too.

Any nettop is going to be horribly slow for photo/video editing though. And you won't be able to upgrade them really.
