Req Stream movies without indexing
#1
Hello everybody,

At home I have a NAS storage and a Windows 7 PC running XBMC.
This all works very well even streaming movies from somewhere else by using FTP works fine for me.

But, when I'm at someone elses place, I'm looking for a way to browse easy through all my movies and series and of course to play then directly, without having to index all the content first.
So, I'm looking for a way to stream movies outside my own netwerk for example by using the web browser, or some kind of protocol which can provide this.

Who can help me with this?

Greetings,

Elmar

I'm not sure I understand what exactly you are trying to accomplish.

Your "request" seems more like a feature of a NAS than XBMC. If you don't want to index the content, most stand alone NAS provides a web interface to access its content, all you have to do is forward the appropriate port(s) on your firewall. You could then login remotely and browse your folders as you would do at home, possibly even play them back in VLC or other similar multimedia player.

Let me know if I didn't understand your question correctly.
