looking for a Very cheap pc for xbmc.

Hi peeps, Been scanning around the web this afternoon, trying to find the cheapest pc to run xbmc and a few 1080p mkv. Im not a novice but i'm also no expert so any input would be very welcome to help me not to buy a lemonSmile
I have found 3 possible's

http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Home+and+O...&rqcType=q

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...ubcat=2453

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc...ubcat=2453

I'm leaning more to the aria one just because it is cheaperSmile I am just looking to put windows 8 and xbmc and just use it as a htpc for my music stream 1080p over xbmc and playing my mkv files.

Thanks.

The celeron is the better but why that formfactor?
How about a Arctic MC001-N?
Has a crap cpu but a dGPU to accelerate everything in xbmc so should be great for the price. Smile

Out of your three choices, the above PC is the best. Why standard ATX case for HTPC? If you have place to hide it, it might be fine though....

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

For the cost of almost 300$ he should be able to get something better and a bit more practical Smile

IF all you care about is playing audio and video in XBMC, and price is your top priority, then the answer may well be a $35 Raspberry Pi. Check my sig to find out if it can work for you.

It's just for the bedroom really and the box will be behind the tv ,so it being ugly won't matter so much. I have been looking at the acer revo l70 also but these system's, i have posted all have a bigger hd which will also be another plus.Price is the biggest issue along with being able to stream 1080p over xbmc and play 1080p mkv and music without the system struggling.

If that is the case, the £174.98 inc VAT PC above should work......good luck!

So whats wrong with a $35 raspberry? Its not like its unusuable or doesnt play 1080p:

A for harddisk space, just attach a USB drve of any size you want (its gonna be way bigger than the Pi anyway), or if you have ethernet there, stream from some NAS or file server.

Well my friends Acer Revo RL 70 with lower specs (AMD E 450) streams and plays 1080p just fine, I'm no hardware expert but I'd assume that one will be good enough.

I'm just in the process of building myself a bedroom pc with the next A4 up in the range, the 2.7ghz 3400, which I've been assured is more than good enough to play full BD iso's, the specs aren't too drastically different so I'd guess a 3300 should be fine
