Solved Create shares in XBMC?
#1
Good evening,

is there an easy way to access to my external USB-HDD plugged into my HTPC running XBMCbuntu? I would like to access it through the network by my macbook but all solutions I found are very difficult to realize (I'm one of those stupid people you've probably heard about Wink).

Is there some "3-click solution", a plugin for XBMC or at least some good instruction for dumb people like me?

brgds

xbmcbuntu is not designed as a file server, but of course it can be done Smile

Assuming your external drive is mounted at /media/disk, your xbmcbuntu user is nick and your hostname is xbmcbuntu

simplest of all methods - mount via sshfs

On the MAC

sshfs nick@xbmcbuntu:/media/disk /mount/point/on/mac

add /mount/point/on/mac as a source in xbmc on the mac.

Sharing a directory via cifs/samba is well documented, you can find plenty of howtos on the net.
