Audio issues using external sound device in 10.7
#1
Hey folks,

using my USB sound device does not work anymore for me in Frodo (neither RCs nor final), similar to this thread (note though that I'm using 10.7, not 10.8).
I can't seem to get any audio in any setting I've tried. Using internal speakers works fine though.
I also tried changing to 16bit and 44.1 khz, but that did not do anything. Speakers are correctly configured in Audio MIDI setup.

Here's the log

External sound device works for me in Frodo (I'm using a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24). However, with previous versions, I simply used to select the device in the OSX preferences and XBMC used to play it just fine. With Frodo, XBMC does not automatically play it through the device even if it's selected in the OS settings. I need to manually change it in the XBMC settings as well, so in case you have not tried that, you will have to change it in both the OS settings and XBMC settings.

I just posted in another thread and will post back if I find there is somethings that helps.

not sure if that commit made it into frodo - but if so you can select the default audio device in xbmc and it will pick whatever you have setup in osx (the nightlies after frodo have the default device added back for sure).

Updated to the most recent Nightly (Feb 5) and - wooh! - it works now when "Default" output is selected. GUI sounds don't play, but video sound does (through the external sound device). Selecting the Fiio device directly still results in no sound and immediate crash-to-desktop on restart though. Strange! But it works, thanks Memphiz and skiddyrow!
