Win Windows 8 joystick support causes slow start
#1
Hi

Today I did my first installation of xbmc on Windows 8. Cool piece of software Cool. But after several restarts it began hanging at the splash screen and froze when i changed to another window and back again. First, I thought it was caused by an incorrect setting, but after I deleted my whole xbmc profile, this issue continued to happen. Even after a clean reinstall the problem persisted. Afterwards, I increased the log level and saw, that there is an issue with the joystick support. When I disabled that option in xbmc (System > Settings > System > Input devices > Enable joystick and gamepad support) it worked like before.

Here are the logs:
In the first log you can see that the joystick support is creating a gap in the log time. The line "DEBUG: CJoystick::Initialize : No Joystick found" is the first one after the gap, which indicated to me, that this is the problem:

For this log I disabled joystick support and now there is now gap anymore, and xbmc starts quickly:

I am not quite sure, whether this problem is caused by a windows setting or this is really a performance issue. I hope this is going to help others with the same issue.

Cheers
