Is there any advantage (for XBMC specifically) on running 5.x over 4.x?

for XBMC there is no advantage, if anything 4.x uses less resource and could be better.

I did however hear some reports that GUI is snappier on 5.2 than on the earlier ones, not sure if it isn't placebo effect

In that case I'll stick to 4.x as I only use my apple-tv for XBMC
