In terms of the quality of picture through your TV, is there any benefit in using the Apple TV Box ahead of connecting your tablet or laptop to your TV?

I have a tablet & Mac and I am pondering whether I should buy an Apple TV 2nd gen box. However I am reluctant to buy the box if there is no benefit.

For example I can use an HDMI to connect my device to the TV.

Does anyone have experience of both and have feedback regarding the benefits of using xbmc on the apple tv box?

Apple TV 2 is the worst bang for your buck you can get. Your laptop will Obviously perform better than any of the others mentioned. But a deticated box is always more convienent.
