Have built a couple of Pentium G630-based XBMC installs, and for most stuff they are great (now I've got 16-235 levels sorted)
However I have some content which is 25-40+Mbs 1080i in 4:2:2 H264/MPEG2 and 4:2:0 H264.
MPEG2 4:2:2 CBR stuff seems to replay fine with the G630 (with a Bob de-interlace)
However H264 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 VBR stuff drops frames on anything with bitrate spikes on 'busy' content - with one or other CPU hitting 100%.
I'm currently running with single sticks of 4GB RAM - could not running dual-channel RAM be an issue?
Would rather not introduce a discrete GPU - so am wondering whether an i3 or i5 would be a good move? (Does HD4000 help with XBMC?)
