I am looking for the best way to rip my DVDs.

Recently, I bought a Kindle Fire. And my DVDs are ripped in MKV format. Unfortunately, the Kindle fire needs MP4 format.

So would ripping them into .IFOs & such be better? That way I could convert them to any format/size? I just don't want to rip DVDs twice, if I don't have to.

Thanks.

You can "remux" the file between containers. MKV and MP4 are just containers, so the video itself doesn't have to be re-converted/ripped. I typically use mp4 as my default ripped format for compatibility with other apps. For most situations, it shouldn't have any functional difference with MKV.

Check out some of these tools. I'm not that familiar with Windows, or else I would be more specific: Supplemental tools/Windows (wiki)
