Im new to xbmc but i want to try it. Its mostly going to play 720p and dts sound.

What would be the best hardware to a newbie??

i have been looking at the ZOTAC IONITX-A-E ATOM 330 ION as i can get it cheap, is that ok??

Sounds like its OK. The only issue you may have is with some of the heavier skins, which might lag a bit.

Install openelec on it and you'll have a great media center with that hardware.
