ERROR: Unable to create GUI
#1
Hello,

I just put XBMC on an older machine..Compaq Presario SR1226NX.
I'm running all stock hardware, with a little added RAM to bring the total to 1GB.

I just put a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 on here and the installed XBMC.

The system has stock VGA graphics, although I'm not sure what chip set and HP has not released any updates pertaining to graphics.

Every time I start XBMC, It throws an error - ERROR: Unable to create GUI..
I figure this may be a video issue but I wanted to make sure before I dumped $60 on a video card.

I've tried finding other open forums on this same error but I always happen upon Linux forums with this issue.

Any Suggestions?

Yeah, kinda what I'm thinking. I've got a machine I built that's got on board ATI that still runs the software but it's only a few months old and I'm using a DVI interface.

I appreciate it. Just needed a second opinion.

Sure enough..
Purchased a new video card it fired right up.

Does not play well with older video interface..
