I've just jailbroken my iPad1 and installed XBMC via Cydia. Works great. Seems to be a great package.

But out of curiosity, is it possible to customize the home menu?

I would like to add some other images for the home menu categories... Can it be done?

And is it just me, or is the XBMC app icon supposed to be totally white/blank when installed from Cydia?

A respring should fix the XBMC icon.

Go and grab the Re-Touched (Settings -> Appearance -> Skins -> Skin -> Get more -> Re-touched)
and that will at least let you do more add-ons on the home menu. I haven't seen anyone do a mod of Touched or Re-touched that does custom home menus yet. Some of the Confluence mods are touch-supported that have custom home items, and the Droid skin might work too (needs a little bit of work, IMO).

Check - a reload of the iPad did the trick.

And sorry for not doing a bit more research. I just didn't think the different skins were also supported on IOS devices...

Well, some are touch friendly, but some aren't, so it can still depend.
