Philips Cinema 21:9 TV
#1
Hi I was wondering if xbmc is able to scale 1080p movies to 2560x1080 on the Philips Cinema 21:9 TV. I know the panel display is 2560x1080 but it says computer inputs are only up to 1920 x 1080.
Please advise as I might end up purchasing one because they are setting the 50 inch display set at SGD$1299 which retailed at SGD$4999.

You might want to read this: http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/s...)-via-HDMI

HDMI isn't going to support the full resolution of this panel.

The panel is 2560x1080 but the highest resolution intput supported is 1920x1080. 21:9 blu-rays end up around 1920x800 which the Philips then scales up itself. I leave it on auto format which detects the black bars and scales accordingly. The disadvantage of this is that you can't then also turn off overscan so you'll need to run through the video calibration settings in XBMC to compensate. Once set up it all works very well though and looks great.
