Because I can't find it!

I have a folder of animated movies that is in my library that i cannot remove because it doesn't show in the 'video, files' tree.

it is on a network share and is completely accessible in library mode but i need to remove it and re add it to solve an artwork issue.

I have looked at the mysources.xml and sources.xml but it's not there.

this obviously means i would have to delete each individual movie to get which is too time consuming!

Could it be hidden somewhere.

Looks like you'd already removed the source sometime after you had scanned the files there into your library. Re-add the source location and set its content type to NONE and allow the library to be updated, which should remove your movie entries from the library.
