Control fan speed within XBMCBuntu
#1
Hi all,

I urgently need to turn down that PWM Fan inside my box. it's just overspeeding, constantly running at ~4.000 RPM.
My bios doesn't have any smart fan options, since the hardware has been designed fanless (it gets a little too warm, though).

Any ideas how this can be achieved in XBMCBuntu?
TIA
Seb

I never was happy with a software solution to control fanspeed.

Get yourself a cheap little fancontroler.

See this post: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...pid1473020

Once you are on the desktop, you can open a terminal session... or use Synaptic.

Ok, got to a terminal, installed fancontrol, then wanted to generate a config file using pwmconfig, but the latter says that it can't locate any pwm sensor...is it possible to set a static fan speed somehow? The board was operated passively for a long time, so even a 1000RPM fan will help - while being silent

So how should your board control fanspeed if linux is not capable to read the actual fan speed through any pwm sensor?
Possibly your board does not have a supported pwm sensor.

So go to post #2.

I struggled exactly the same problems. ;-)
