I read that putting 3DSBS in the filename of a 3D mkv would make the TV switch to 3D. It's not working for me. Anyone have a clue why?
Also, are there any build that has 3D-compatible GUI or might it be added later on?

Latest XBMC nightlies have some 3D features like switching the GUI and subtitle to SBS or OU. At present the support is mainly for SBS and OU 3D files onbly. You can convert SBS to OU or OU to SBS, 3D to 2D and anaglyph models. Autoswitching of TV to 3D mode is not yet supported. The GUI can be automatically switched to SBS/OU. For this enable the following settings:
system > settings > video output > set preferred stereoscopic mode to sbs or ou or same as movie.
settings > video> playback > playback mode of stereoscopic files > preferred mode.
