I have a revo R1600 atom/ion system
I was having trouble playing a certain 1080p video and thought I would try updating.
I now have Linux 3.5.0-37-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP and XBMC 13.0-ALPHA5 Git:9372af7
Video GPU: ION/integrated/SSE2
OpenGL version: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 304.88
I tried upgrading the video driver as well and get VDPAU working properly but something has gone terribly wrong.
Now half of the settings are missing from SYSTEM/VIDEO/PLAYBACK
and whenever I try to play ANY video I get a black screen.
Is there any way to recover from this or am I going to have to start all over from scratch?

The settings are just hidden, open the left-hand drawer and change the setting level to advanced or expert. Then post a debug log when you try playing something.

How did you upgrade? I wouldnt use alpha xbmc if youre not prepared for breakage. Whats the output of
ls /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
?

Do you think it is just an incompatible file?
How can I know if the video drivers are working properly?
The file is on an external WD USB drive. Why would I be getting all of those warnings?
I also have discovered that skins are not working now.

That model does not support every size of video frame. Read the nvidia readme in /usr/share/doc/nvidia-current/README.txt.gz - search for VDPAU FEATURES NOTE 1.

I am not sure but it explains the error referred to by fritsch in post #6

mrdos: What is the frame buffer size set to in the BIOS of your ION board?
I had a 'catch all' vdpau error and increasing the frame buffer from 256MB to 512MB in BIOS solved it for me.
