I just got my Raspberry Pi and I am trying to install XBMC via SD card and USB drive.

It starts normally with all the code lines and it formats the USB drive. Then it starts downloading the root file system but eventually it stops - each time at a different percentage (so far I have had it stop at 14, 50, 67 and 70 %). Eventually, an error message saying it could not connect to the server anymore appears.

What could the problem be? I think it may be the power supply as I am currently just using my regular HTC Legend power supply the current strength of which I don't know. I tried unplugging the USB keyboard so the only peripherals connected are TV via HDMI, USB disk and ethernet cable but it doesn't help.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks. Now that I've downloaded it, what next? Suppose I need to put on the SD card? Do you have an installation guide?

Put it in the installer directory and rename installer.img.gz to something else, rename the file you downloaded to installer.img.gz then run the installer, when asked to redownload answer no

I just had to format my USB drive as well as my SD card because Windows wouldn't recognize them when I inserted them to my computer - so I don't have any installer directory or "installer.img.gz". How do I get on from here?

Today it all suddenly worked by just using the regular installer (the one in your last link).
