Buying advice for a cheap XBMC box
#1
I was running an AMD-E350 based setup a little while back. I ran on OpenELEC and had no issues with it. The only thing that bothered me was the size of the machine (it was in half height HTPC case) and it made more noise than I was happy with.

I have an Apple TV3 and when PlexConnect was released I set it up and thought that the size and quiteness of the setup would be 'good enough' for me. I sold the HTPC box. Since then Apple made some changes with the AppleTV firmware and I have not been able to it running since. Switching to Plex was for me a huge mistake!

I want to switch back to running XBMC and I have narrowed down some options.

Intel Celeron 897 NUC
Acer Revo RL80
Zotac ID18

Which of those am I best off with?

The NUC is a little bit more than I ideally would like to spend. Factoring in the cost of RAM and power cable pushes the price up. I was thinking about the RL80 which in the UK comes in at about £130 including ram and a 500GB HDD.

I have read reports of people having issues with the Revo in OpenELEC post 3.2. Are those problems all resolved now? Is the NUC going to be less problematic?
