I have a periodic trouble with my mce remote with usb receiver. Sometimes the remote just stops working. Sometimes a reboot fixes the problem, sometimes not. So far I have been unable to find the issue, but today I think I made some progress, possibly someone can make something out of my findings. It seems I have 2 remote devices:
/dev/lirc0
and
/dev/lirc1
I figured out, with the 'mode2 --device=/dev/<lircx>' command that one device is working and one has no response. I noticed that when I fix my /etc/lircd/hardware.conf REMOTE_DEVICE= line to point to the working device, and restart lircd, the remote works with xbmc again. The problem is, the working device periodically changes. Sometimes it is lirc0 that works, sometimes lirc1.
I am tearing my hair out here. I have been using this remove with xbmc for years now, very happily. What is going on here and how can I fix it......?
