CableCard Alternative?

Hi Guys,

I'm a pretty advanced XBMC user, but I'm still struggling to crack open PVR.

I bought an HDHomeRun Prime last year, before learning that that wasn't the best route.

Then I tried a Ceton InfiniTV 6 and realized that wasn't well supported.

If those aren't the best options, what are the recommended options??

I don't plan to add a satelite to my roof and I only plan to record basic cable channels like ABC, NBC, CSB, AMC in HD.

What's my best option?

Serious brownie points to anyone who can help!

So what went wrong with the Prime? I'm running with that, currently using the new MCE PVR backend. It seems pretty solid. I have a $10/month Comcast plan that includes about a dozen channels (all of the major broadcast networks in HD).

When I was testing it, there was no WMC Plugin. That meant I had to use WMC and WMC isn't compatible with XBMC's use of Exclusive Audio these days, so that was a bust.

I can't find my Prime to test with the new plugin.

I've been running a HD Homerun and HD Homerun Prime on Mythtv (mythbuntu distro) for about a year now with no issues. Not sure why you haven't had any luck with the Prime.

Plus there's a WMC client addon these days.

What about the WMC Exclusive Audio problem with the latest Frodo?
