OS X HDMI display problems via thunderbolt on TV

Question
I am new to mac so sorry if this is a simple fix. I am connecting my macbook air (13 in.) running mavericks to my 1080p TV with a thunderbolt to hdmi cable. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get xbmc in fullscreen mode without having black bars on both sides...i can show xbmc without those black bars on both sides in widowed mode but the system bar on top is annoying...i m not sure if i should be extending the display or mirroring it, or if my resolution is wrong.

I tried to search for a solution for this but with no luck.

PS: running xbmc 12.3

Extend the display and then go to XBMC -> Settings -> System -> Video output ->

and select "Display 2 fullscreen" or something like that.

See if that does it.

(I'm still afraid of Mavericks and haven't updated, and my dual boot option was crazy slow)

great thanks, i didn't see a display 2 option last night in the xbmc settings but maybe i was extending the display wrongly. I just read upon the mac site that if i right click the xbmc icon and set and assign it to display 2, i will try this later and see if it works along with the right xbmc settings.

Screen extension has to be enabled in osx settings -> monitors ...
