Here is what I`ve done up-to now. Its the Xperience1080 skin but scaled down to 720p. It rough and about half is done. There are loads of bugs at the moment, but the basics are there. It should run better on lower powered devices, but textures haven't been converted yet. I take no credit for any of the work done, I'm just converting it.

PLEASE REMOVE OLD VERSION BEFORE INSTALLING THIS, DUE TO TEXTURE CHANGES

Total XBMC spend so far: £76
Rpi (£24) + Pogoplug V2 (£15) + HD Star DVB-S2 (£29) + GPIO Ir (£3) + NOOBS 8GB SD (£5) = Cheap Media Center

Im almost finished now, was it any faster?

It's hard to tell the subjective difference. But thats because I'm running my Pi on a fast USB stick and in turbo mode.
Even the 1080 Xperience is working fluently. But what I can say definitively is that the RAM usage got a bit reduced.
Probably because your 720 version can make use of smaller graphics.
