There doesn't seem to be a general option for forcing a rescan if the files haven't changed on disk. The only way I found to force a rescan is to delete the source and recreate it, which is highly inefficient, not to mention error-prone, especially if you have many sources (as I do). So having a "force rescan from files" option would be very useful, and would help deal with cases like this http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/14937 where a change the change of settings to disable overriding of tags from online lookups necessitates a global rescan from files.
