OS X Kodi 15.1 vs. 16.1 problem
#1
Last night I had a power fail and since then Kodi16.1 (latest release) does not update nor can I see the categories I build on the home screen.
If I start Kodi15.1 I have no problems....
Normally I would remove Kodi and the ~library files of Kodi but that is not the problem if Kodi15.1 is working, right?
I have removed the binary and downloaded a new 16.1 but with the same result (16.1 not working 15.1, no problem)

My questions are:
- Does 15.1 use a different ~library folder than 16.1? Sure looks like it as 15.1 is working fine and 16.1 not...
- Is there more to delete if I want to do a 100% clean install of Kodi 16.1

I am using 15.1 now and all is fine but I don't like to use old software.

Anyone able to respond with a good suggestion?

MacMini early 2013
Max. RAM

HD is not full
running OS/X 10.12.1

Thanks for helping?

This should show you what you need to do to uninstall everything. Just delete Kodi.app and the Kodi folder. I would create a backup copy first though. Just in case.

You are correct that both versions use the same userdata folder.

You say:

How is it possible that 15.1 works fine and 16.1 NOT ?
I know the "uninstall procedure" but I was looking for an answer as to the reason why 16.1 ignores those files.

I can wait for Krypton (17) and see if it works like always (using the files from the previous version).
If that doesn't work I will perform the uninstall and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks

If you are just talking about the Library itself then they use the same folders but a different .db file in the Database folder, Jarvis will use the later numbered files, i.e. MyVideos99.db etc. Perhaps if you deleted the newer db files & re-installed Jarvis it would migrate the files again & fix your problem. I've never tried it but I would think this would work.

If you are talking about your skin settings then a full delete/re-install would no doubt do the job.

That sounds like something that was corrupted during the crash/power failure.
Thanks, I will try that !
