HTPC Build in an Original Nintendo
#1
I want to create a low cost/high powered HTPC that runs XBMC but is cased in a Nintendo shell. I got the idea off of a thread off of Imgur. I'd like to get some ideas for the components to use for this build. Thanks!

I have done this for my Rumpus Room.

E6500 DualCore 64W TDP
Zotac 9300 Wifi board (with Nvidia 9300 onboard)
4Gb RAM
64Gb SSD
Open Elec 3.2.4
HP-MCE receiver
Pico PSU

I have added a huge 120mm fan under the ITX board to remove air. It gets a bit hot 70deg, but still within the thermal limits of the CPU.

This was built from old parts. I would highly recommend keeping an eye on the new J1900 with 12v DC. This would keeps the cost right down.

J1900 board with 12v DC wont need a Pico PSU, Case is the NES, boot from USB-OpenElec so no HDD, 2Gb Ram. + HP remote
Should be $200! and be a very sweet little machine.

J1900 is passivly cooled, so the device would be silent.

There is a long discussion on Nintendo Forums dedicated to unusual NES hardware mods. @kortina, if you post this there, it's guaranteed to generate some excitement. Big Grin
