I was able to hit backslash and my xbmc window would go down to about 30%, but when I was in that 30% window I hit the green plus key and it made my screen go almost full screen, now when I hit backslash it toggles between full screen and almost full screen, how do I get it to return to about 30% window?

The same way you resize every other window in Mac OS X, by using your mouse and moving the corner of the window.

Full disclosure: I work for WeTek. However, this is my personal account, and my words and opinion are my own.

HOW-TO: You can make easy links to the Kodi Wiki Manual using double brackets around common Kodi words: [[debug log]] = debug log (wiki), [[Video library]] = Video library (wiki), [[SMB]] = SMB (wiki) , etc

It's not allowing me to do that, I have tried every corner and side it will not make it smaller.

Edit: You were right I finally found the exact spot where my mouse has to be, it has to very precise.
