Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]

OK I'll try looking for the vsync option (and see what it is currently) - how does this effect the unresponsiveness of the app and things like pausing/stop besides the onscreen things?

EDIT: I look forward to instructions on how to update to 6.0.1 the MattDevo way and I guess I'll have to backup my settings and manually put them back in or will it keep all of my configs?

honestly I've never heard of the issues you're describing, so I can't say whether the vsync setting will change/fix things, only that it's the correct setting. There's no case where it's normal for Kodi not to be immediately responsive

there's not going to be anything different about updating to the new Intel-EGL build, it will be exactly the same as what you've already done.

Also, if the issues you're having are only with video content/plugins which are not able to be discussed here, then that's really not something we can help you with.

I am using the 6.0.98-fritz build on an Asus Celeron chromebox. Sometimes, seemingly at random, when I change between different video streams {for example changing directly from a live tv stream to a video on my NAS box) the audio in Kodi disappears and can't be restored without a reboot.

I've thought about posting at the Openelec forums but it seems really quiet over there and not terribly active. I would post here at the Kodi forums, but I'm not sure where the best place would be to do it for such a specialised build (plus it is Openelec, not pure Kodi).

Any recommendations?

Cheers, Rich

You are not alone, this is happening to me as well. I have the same hardware and same build. Luckily it rarely happens, and I have not been able to "catch it" with debug on. I have my audio output and passthrough output set to "HDA Intel, MEI Panasonic-TV on HDMI #0". Its connected to a Yamaha Rx-A1020 receiver ---> TV. What happens is, randomly, oftenly when switching rapidly between video files the audio dies. If I go in to setup and check I can see that the output and passthrough output has been changed to "HDA Intel on HDMI #0" (without the Panasonic TV part). And checking the options the output "HDA Intel, MEI Panasonic-TV on HDMI #0"is missing. A reboot is the only thing that helps. Not sure whats going on, maybe something with the handshake? But if handshake was borked wouldnt the picture/video also disappear?

Having the same issue. Almost same config as you. Fristch 6.0.98, Panasonic VT60 plasma, Yamaha RX-A820. Happened twice in past 2 days. Restarted kodi and it fixed it.

sounds like it might be a Yamaha AVR EDID firmware bug. No such issues here with my VT60 and Marantz NR-604 running 6.0.98

well I might go back to 5.x then and wait until upgrade path from you. I didn't have the problems until I upgraded to Isengard (sp?) (6.x) with the orange logo on boot. I am using a chromebox with a IR dongle attached to it and it sometimes just won't stop/pause and I don't think it has anything to do with the plugins but how kodi is behaving but it could stem down to the device driver for the IR as I never use anything else to control it. Also the OSD that displays the progress of the stream doesn't go away sometimes or it takes a long time.

If I do the reset you suggested earlier will it revert back to 5.x or keep it at 6.x but with no user settings and I have to manually put them back in?

you didn't mention you had upgraded from 5.x - that could very well be the source of your issues, since major version upgrades often include changes to database and config file formats. I'd definitely recommend you install the current Intel-EGL build (6.0.98 - linked in the wiki) and do a hard reset (effectively the same as a clean install) or just do a clean install, and then reload/reconfigure things and see if the issues are resolved. You'll be able to manually upgrade to the new Intel-EGL build (tentatively 6.0.198) once I release it and shouldn't cause any problems.

Hello, i have 3 ASUS Chromebox running standalone OpenELEC. The latest build with Kodi 15.2 OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-6.0.1.tar, everytime i reboot any of the boxes the wifi is turned off and i need to plug a mouse or keyboard into the chromebox to turn back on the wifi. is there any fix to this, i never had this issue on OpenELEC 5.95 or lower. i am running the genericbuild OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-6.0.1.tar. please help, not sure what i am doing wrong, i even messed around with the time delay to 10 seconds or so and still nothing.

Use 6.0.98, which is the recommended build. Don't use the 'wait for network' option since that's what's causing the disable issue. Known issue with 5.95.5 and above, not yet resolved

I think you might be on the right track here Matt... I forgot to mention in my earlier post but I also have a Yamaha Amp (RX-V573). The only addition I have is a Gefen HDMI Detective between the chromebox and the amp: Chromebox > HDMI Detective > Yamaha AMP > Sony HX800 TV

Hi Matt

are you referring to this link
http://fritsch.fruehberger.net/openelec/...ritsch.tar

found here under "Updating Kodi"
http://kodi.wiki/view/Chromebox

EDIT: do I just put this tar ball in /storage/.update and reboot the box and then after than perform the hard reset in the OpenELEC menus?
