Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]
(2016-07-23, 04:25)Matt Devo Wrote: the easier/easiest way is just to copy the file from the PC on which you downloaded to the Chromebox over the network using the instructions here: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=...g_OpenELEC

You can get the IP address of the Chromebox by going to the 'System Info' target under the 'System' heading on the main menu

This was the easiest way for me, took about 5 mins. I tried copying from USB using the Kodi File Manager and couldn't find the Update folder. At least figured out after puttzing around for 30 mins how to make the copy off the USB, not sure I could repeat that again.

Appreciate your good work, please give link for the beer fund. Thanks.

Any suggestions (links) for WAF friendly PVR Add On Using HDHomeRun (about to cut the cord and I have to set up recording schedules - also have FreeNAS Mini) ? MythBuntu or the new HDHomeRun DVR.... (sorry for the OT)

nope, and even the firmware isn't needed ;-)

same way you would on another other PC - download the LibreELEC installer image, create the USB install media, boot it and choose the 'Quick Install' option. Download link and instructions to create the install media are on the Chromebox wiki page; you can also simply run the E-Z Setup Script from a terminal in Kodibuntu and create the install media that way.

[email protected] works, TIA Smile

I'm not sure any PVR setups are truly SO-friendly, but I use TVHeadend on my NAS and the corresponding LE client. If I didn't care about recording and had a supported model, I'd use the official HDHR Kodi plugin (which is slated to get PVR support at some point)

the installer will repartition / reformat the target drive as needed (so back up whatever you need beforehand)

Hello people at the Kodi Forum,
Hello Matt

I'm kind of sorry to start my questions at this state of installation, but I tried to setup my chromebox for single-kodi-use yesterday and got the following message while trying to install coreboot FW:

Quote:coreboot firmware download checksum fail; download corrupted, cannot flash

I looked through the post and now I'm pretty sure this is a server-thing, so could you please have a look into that?

Thank you very much!

Lenny

Edit: Works now!

Thank you Soli for the tips on using CloudReady and Chomixium. I'll probably use one of those or maybe just use some other ubuntu variant as a once-in-a-while USB thumbstick boot option when libreelec is installed in standalone mode . Thank you Matt Devo for the info.

Looks like https://www.mrchromebox.tech/files, e.g. https://www.mrchromebox.tech/files/firmw...160719.rom is not accessible. I get Error 404.

well the root directory isn't accessible, so that's normal, but the filename/date was inadvertently not updated with the rest - fixed

they're not supposed to work: directory listing is disabled on my site, and the firmware filename for the Samsung Series 3 Chromebox (Stumpy) was incorrect. The filename was updated, so flashing via the script will work now - that's what was fixed.
