Hardware:

Intel i5 Ivy Bridge processor
MSI ZH77A-G43 motherboard
4 GB RAM
Pioneer VSX-822-K A/V receiver

If I hook up the PC directly to my HDTV via HDMI I get audio and video just fine.

If I hook up the PC to my A/V receiver via HDMI I get video but no sound. This happens no mater which HDMI port I use. My BD player works fine no mater which HDMI port I use. I have been working with Pioneer's support and they have not been able to solve the problem. Hopefully somebody here will have a solution for me.

I've gone through the audio settings and made sure that the HDMI port is being used. (Obviously, it is since it works on my HDTV just fine.)

Post a screenshot of your audio settings as well as a debug log (wiki).

Go to System -> Settings -> System -> Audio:

Choose Output Fixed
SampleRate 48000

and retry.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
