Why it is "shitty abandoned hardware". Isn't there RK3288 boxes in market which works great? Or is it because Measy makes lousy firmware? Could DD/DTS works if I root B4S? Or does it matter?

For real Kodi is the best home theater software which I have found. Only frustrated because DD/DTS does not work. With 2.0 audio everything works great in Kodi...

RK3288 is actually very decent hardware.
If Measy provides firmware after April 2015 it will probably fix passthrough support like the rest of the other RK3288 manufacturers that have working passthrough.
You can also create a custom kernel that fixes passthrough from the firefly github account.

I use this thread to ask advice with Amlogic S812 M8S Android box...


I stopped to trying to get DD,DTS etc sounds in Measy B4S. There is new firmware but it did not help with audio problem. Here is newest firmware: http://www.measy.com.cn/download/downloa...&class2=50


BUT:


I bought M8S Amlogic S812 box and it is working great! DD, DTS all works!

Kodi in M8S is version 14.2. If I update it to 15.1 or 15.2 will all setup remain?

M8S has different audio options than B4S.

This picture is from Internet but it shows same options that I have in M8S box:



If I update Kodi to version 15.1 or 15.2 are these options still there? Because I would like to listen audio with DD, DTS etc...




BTW...

Why Measy B4S [RK3288] box does not have these options?
