Solved Linux: Video smooth but jerk severely every 15 minutes?

Nice one. AESinkAlsa fails to query the channel layout and falls back to stereo. Ping @FernetMenta.

Please also upgrade to a more recent NVdiia driver. 304 was released in 2013, this is considered stone age Smile

And don't overwrite any edid for now. Make sure the avr/tv is on before you boot xbmc. Then post another Debug Log.

ok still using your build, Nvidia 340 installed. edid not overwritten. tv.avr on when rebooted. same problem. debug log created.

I have a horrible feeling that once we get this working the video will jerk again lol, but i guess we will see...

Describe your Hardware (avr etc.). Your avr currently forwards the tv's edid with only 2 channels.

What passthrough formats did you use before?

With that edid ac3 and DTS is max you will get.

Btw. this is currently no xbmc Problem, but handshake with your hw.

please also update xbmc from wsnipex repo. just to make sure you don't miss recent x11 patches.

AVR: Yamaha RXV2065 capable of DTSMA, TrueHD.
HDTV: Samsumg UE55B7000WWXXU
HTPC: Zotac D2550ITX motherboard, which runs a Nvidia GF119 rev1.a

HTPC HDMI > AVR HDMI > TV HDMI

TV is capable of 24hz, 50hz, 60hz as far as i can tell. It definitely switches between then and video looks smooth.

I have some TruHD and DTS-MA, both of which sounded correct (you helped me get it working the other day), all channels very well defined and amazing bass.

Its only when i switched to FernetMenta's repo that it seems to be having issues remapping the channels.

Are you saying the AVR is broken??

Thanks for all your help mate...

No. It is configured in a wrong way. It tells the data off your tv not its own.

Read the logfile yourself. The handshake shows your tv with just two channels. Has nothing to do with xbmc.

ok. i checked and they are identical from the old logs (where the passthrough sound was working).

So now i am really confused! Smile can you recommend a next step?

So this line has no bad effect? It appears before the lines that say there are 2 channels and seems to suggest some sort of error getting the channel mapping?

Code:
17:18:42 T:140299711354624    INFO: CAESinkALSA - ALSA: pcm_hw.c:1069:(snd_pcm_query_chmaps_from_hw) Cannot read Channel Map TLV
                                            : Cannot allocate memory

this is identical in both new and old logs:

Ac3 and DTS can work. For the HD formats we need to open 8! channels.

Do you remember the DD5.1 sound text file TEST.TOOL.Ac3 Dolby Digital 5.1ch Sound Test.avi?

Even that doesn't work, rear speakers completely silent and no SW. BUT it did on the normal XBMC stable repo as did DTS MA etc.

I've tried enabling 7.1 speakers in XBMC but i don't think thats what your talking about are you? :-)

Excuse my ignorance i'm not a sound engineer, just an XBMC lover lol Wink
