Record series and Aeon Nox
#1
I've searched and found a few threads but the info seems to be a bit dated. Is there anyway to get the record series dialogue in aeon nox 5? I asked in the aeon nox forum but I'm getting no replies.

Likely what you are looking at is still true. To enable series recording you need the two xml skin files pvr.wmc uses for it (RecordPrefs.xml and DeleteTImer.xml) to be in the nox skin.

I'm not seeing a folder for pvr.wmc in my addons folder. A search for pvr.wmc in the XBMC appdata folder only turns up the userdata for pvr.wmc.

okay, I found the xml files, copied them to Aeon Nox 5s 1080i folder, and restarted XMBC. I'm still not seeing an option to record a series. I remember the topic I found talking about making edits to the files, but I cant find the topic anymore.

The pages should be displayed based on what you described. You only need to edit them to make them look okay

Its described here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:PVR.WMC#Series_Recording.

Skip down to:
9.1 Enabling set 'series' recording and 'cancel' series recording

EDIT>
Also, maybe try switching to confluence just to make sure the series rec is happening there.

Short of bugging the nox author (which I guess you tried), I would try copying another skin file from nox for a dialog to a file. Keep the structure, but delete the specific controls in that dialog, replacing them with the controls from our dialogs. When done, rename them to be the same as our xmls and try it out.

But I am a skinner noob, you can probably get better advice in the skin forums.

Thanks for the help! I'll make a backup of the files and mess with them for a bit.

IIRC it looks like crap in Nox and is barely functional cause you can't get to the buttons you need. I have ridden BigNoid like a toy pony on this issue and the problem is that he just isn't interested. He has made it clear if it was up to him, there wouldn't even be a Live TV section in XBMC/Kodi. I long for a day when someone comes along who uses swmc, Nox, has skinning skills and is interested in fixing this or Noid buys a TV tuner. I'm not holding my breath.

Truth be told, I just set my recordings directly in WMC. I know it's not ideal, but I record so little it isn't a big deal.
The XBMC team, plug-in devs, skinners, etc. do this for us for FREE in their spare time because they want to. Think about that for a second before you start bitching...

There you go @GOG3, if you can make the xml files for nox you already have one customer.

The kodi team is working on adding standard series dialogs to the code, so that these games won't need to be played in the future. Unfortunately we won't see it in helix (not sure why). So he'll have to skin it eventually.

There is still hope series recording will be supported in isengard, so the necessity for this will be a thing of the past.
