One more thing I could think of is if i had port 9080 forwarded in my router settings would that cause any issues with sharing the folder

access to the shared folder is through SMB which uses a different port. So if you have a setup such that you have to allow traffic through to the server you would need to allow 9080 (for socket communication to ServerWMC) and also SMB (port 445 on tcp and udp i believe) for the file share access

port 9080 is needed for the clients to talk to ServerWMC and SMB is needed for the clients to playback live TV and recordings, so you need all of the above to be open between your client and your server
why are you forwarding ports? I had assumed at this point your were on a normal flat LAN - if you have more complicated setup please give a full rundown of everything and how they are connected etc
